Hi, I’m CLAIRE DRUCKER.
I hold a Certificate in College Admissions and Career Planning from The University of California, Berkeley Extension and I have helped high school juniors, seniors and transfer students maneuver through the college process from start to finish. My superpower is how I relate to young people. My compassionate nature, coupled with a deep understanding of adolescence, allows me to work with students as a powerful ally. By asking the right questions, using individual college expertise, providing timelines, sharing important resources, and supporting their individual needs, I am especially skilled in helping young people reflect on themselves and the process more fully, so that they can find the best college “fit.”
As an experienced English Professor at Santa Rosa Junior College for 27 years, I know how to support and advise my students in navigating the complex college admissions process. I am able to support students in expressing their needs and desires and I can provide guidance for creating exceptional essays.
For many years, I have also worked as an Educational Coach in an independent high school, supporting students as they build their skills in reading and writing, with special attention on Executive Functioning strategies. Applying study skills to the application process is a great first step toward guiding my students to becoming more confident and organized adults!
As a parent, I understand the challenges you face as your children begin the process of applying to colleges. I helped my daughter with her college search and she couldn’t be happier with her choice.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Virginia and a Master’s Degree of Fine Arts in Writing and Poetics from Naropa University. I have also completed additional course-work at Holy Names University in Education Therapy.
By reducing the stress, and clarifying any confusion, I can help make this a journey of personal growth, rather than a burden to be avoided.
